In this sequel to the first book in the series TO DIE FOR, which introduced readers to gym owner Blair Mallory and her now fiancé Police Detective Wyatt Bloodsworth readers, we find Mallory attempting to arrange her wedding within 30 days after being given an ultimatum by Bloodsworth.

Mallory does not want a 'tacky' Las Vegas wedding and this is what she will get unless she marries him on the date stipulated. Knowing that Wyatt is serious about his threat and quite capable of carrying it out, Mallory is busy trying to arrange her dream wedding on time.

All Mallory’s arrangements are going swimmingly – until someone tries to run her down as she is leaving the mall with the wedding shoes to die for that she has just found and she ends up in hospital. Furthermore, she also believes that someone is following her. Unfortunately, Wyatt does not initially believe her and thinks that Blair is imagining it. It is only when matters escalate that he realises that someone is stalking her and he starts to take the matter a lot more seriously.

Linda Howard is certainly in the top of the league when it comes to the male alpha dynamics and, this comes across by the fact that Wyatt is of course the hunky, sexy cop that any sane woman would want around them. Therefore, it is rather disappointing when her female characters come across as having very few brain cells (whether or not this is strictly true), high maintenance and at times seriously annoying to boot.

DROP DEAD GORGEOUS is easy to read, not in the slightest bit suspenseful, and is in fact rather infuriating at times. The blonde slightly dizzy but not completely bimbo behaviour leaves a lot to be desired and becomes rather annoying after a while.

It does Linda Howard no favours as she is a much better writer and one gets the impression that DROP DEAD GORGEOUS was dashed off very quickly with very little effort and very little concern for her loyal readers. DROP DEAD GORGEOUS is a disappointment to what should be a rather mischievous and interesting series.
