This is a cheap edition, presumably to keep the price down because it's a long book. The cover didn't last through one reading and the paper is only a step above newsprint. On the other hand, fair is fair, and the number of typographical errors is well below average, indicating that someone paid a good deal of attention to that aspect of the novel, which isn't true of the back cover. It's too bad, because the story is worth a better package.

In the prologue Will Harper is a New York cop--a bomb specialist who tries to move an unstable explosive from a school locker. The result sends him into early retirement. Now his special talents are needed because someone is going about the country blowing up important people and many of those in the immediate vicinity of the target. Who the bomber is, why this bomber is targeting certain people, and whether Harper and ex-FBI profiler, Harold Addleman can locate and disarm him before he kills others is the core of the story. Also important, though circumstantial, is official bureaucratic caution and unwillingness to listen to demonstrably expert civilians.

The protagonists, Harper and Addleman are both outsiders with special skill and talents, and their histories and peculiarities, fully exploited in this novel, add twists and interest to the novel. The story is well-paced and takes the reader on an interesting journey across the country. The targets Will Harper encounters are varied and interesting. All in all, an entertaining novel, well worth the price.
