Lilah Murchison had a bad feeling about the upcoming flight to Minneapolis, but even she couldn't have guessed that the private plane she'd boarded would plummet into Lake Michigan in the middle of a thunderstorm. Her death in the crash leaves part of her considerable fortune up for grabs between Dean, the son who thinks he's her heir, and an unnamed person named in her will as her firstborn child. The rest of her money is divided between a cat charity and Dr. Randall Koslow, the veterinarian designated to oversee the welfare of Mrs. Murchinson's twenty-three Siamese cats.

Dr. Koslow is currently dealing with the attempted catnapping of Number One Son, one of Mrs. Murchison's cats hospitalized at the Koslow clinic after eating a wad of cloth. Caught red-handed by the police, the catnapper is the teenage grandson of an elderly friend of Leigh Koslow, the veterinarian's daughter. Adith Rhodis asks Leigh to plead her grandson's case with Dr. Koslow. The doctor agrees to drop charges if Leigh can give him a good reason for the boy's actions.

The "good reason" winds up being a key that Number One Son swallowed along with the piece of cloth. Because the key appears related to the anonymous death threats Dr. Koslow is receiving, Leigh investigates its connection to Mrs. Murchinson's strange will. Could the unnamed heir be behind the threats? Or is Dean Murchinson warning off the doctor for some unknown reason? Who wants the key so badly that he or she would commit murder to own it?

Never Tease A Siamese is the fifth book in the Leigh Koslow mystery series. Fans will enjoy Claire's solid plot with its many twists and turns as well as the snappy dialogue of her well-rounded characters. This is a clever mystery written with a dash of humor and concluded quite logically. Altogether, a satisfying read.
