If you are looking for the true meaning of Christmas this year, look no farther than the enchanting tale in Aunt Dimity's Christmas. When a homeless man is discovered unconcious and nearly frozen to death beneath the lilac bushes out front of Lori Shepherd's cottage, she is annoyed at having such a rude intrusion on her perfectly planned Christmas holiday. She is reluctantly drawn into an investigation of this man's identity by her dead Aunt Dimity and the handsome priest, Julian Bright.

Through her growing dedication to solve the mystery of this man's identity and origins -- as well as discover the reason behind his apparently odd quest -- Lori discovers not only the humble joys of giving to others but also faces fears and feelings that she hadn't even realized were pulling at her. In this delightful and heartwarming tribute to Christmas, we as readers also find ourselves examining our lives and hearts to find a bit of that Christmas spirit as well.

This was my first venture into the fairy-tale world of Aunt Dimity and I found it throughly enjoyable. Nancy Atherton uses Aunt Dimity in this fifth installment to gently remind us of the goodness we should see in the world. This may be the first Aunt Dimity mystery I've encountered, but it surely won't be the last.
