Giving a tough employee evaluation is never easy, but for Gwen Farris it becomes pure hell. After a negative review, employee Stephen Tarbell who has always believed that he should have gotten Gwen's managerial position attacks her in the parking lot. But the company, Pace Pharmaceuticals, doesn't want to involve police. Instead, they call in a private security company to handle the matter. This doesn't stop Tarbell, who continues to escalate with threats and by terrorizing Gwen, all the while covering his tracks. Worse yet, her employer, the private security company and even police start to disbelieve Gwen. Her career begins to spiral downward.

As if this isn't enough to send Gwen over the edge, we find out she was attacked 15 years ago as a college student. Her attacker is now set to be paroled, and she's been asked to speak at his parole hearing. Flashbacks give us a glimpse into this horrific attack that almost left her dead. This almost makes it too difficult to read the book it's hard enough to see a woman endure this once, but twice?

But Wood knows how to keep us engaged. For one thing, Gwen is a pretty tough woman, and she's not just relying on others to keep her safe. Gwen finally decides that she needs to take matters into her own hands. Wood has written several other thrillers, and knows how to write edge-of-the-seat novels. A bit predictable at some points, TERMINATED is nonetheless a fast-paced thriller that keeps ramping up the suspense. In the end, Wood gives us another reason not to want to go to work Monday.
