Suppose that one is inclined to Goth apparel and culture. Suppose also that one is not making the headway one would like in one's chosen field, one's love life, one's life in general. SELF-HELP FOR DUMMIES (if such a book exists) probably doesn't speak to one, now does it? Scott Kenemore has the book for you!

THE ZEN OF ZOMBIE: BETTER LIVING THROUGH THE UNDEAD is a guide to changing one's life through emulation of zombie traits and behaviors. Sounds ridiculous? Well, yeah, and yet at the same time, not so much.

Part One details "The 24 Habits of Highly Effective Zombies." While the examples of zombie behavior are spot on, and their applications to each step appropriate, one would be hard put to believe that zombies ARE highly effective outside their own realm. So taking the traits and transferring them to real life might prove interesting, although as one reads down the list, none of the traits are new and unusual.

Part Two is a complete guide to "Zombification in 90 Days." Take three months to change one's life, with references to the 24 Habits. Each chapter has examples, ways to rethink one's choices, suggestions for WWZD (what would zombies do?). Again, the reality of what zombies do and what humans do doesn't always translate well, but the fundamental principles are nothing new.

Personally, I found this humorous in very small doses. A little bit of zombie goes a long way. I'm glad I didn't pay $12.95 for it, because I'd be very unhappy. However, if one has a youngster who needs some focus, probably an adolescent male (or a female heavily into the occult subculture), this might make an amusing stocking stuffer. It would also be a great gag gift for those associates at work who read every self-help book that comes along. Again, it would require a certain slightly off-center sense of humor in the recipient.
