In Meg Gardiner's debut novel CHINA LAKE, the author introduced readers to Evan Delaney, a bestselling science fiction writer and lawyer who took on a doomsday cult in order to protect her nephew from harm. Evan does not hesitate to sacrifice herself for her family and friends by doing whatever it takes to save them from danger. She is impulsive and likes to take control in situations. Most times, she gets in way over her head but somehow she survives. That formula worked well in CHINA LAKE and continues in MISSION CANYON, the second book in this series.

In this case, she is dealing with Franklin Brand, a man accused of crippling her fiancé and killing a friend during a hit-and-run almost five years ago. He has escaped justice for all this time, but now he's back and Evan wants justice. However things do not go as planned and there is a little more to the story than what she already knows. Evan and her fiancé, Jesse Blackburn, are being menaced by a cyberterrorist group who go by the name of i-Heist. These dangerous people have brought down several captains of industry through online extortion and blackmail. They do not like taking no for an answer and they know how to ruin people's lives with the click of a mouse.

Evan is not someone who is going to sit idly by and do nothing. She will do what she has to do to get to the bottom of things and find out the truth about her fiancé's accident regardless of the consequences. MISSION CANYON is filled with enough action and suspense scenes to thrill any adrenaline junkie and the book is well-plotted. This is a good read if you are looking for some action and suspense.
