In the prologue of Phillip Margolin’s latest thriller, readers are introduced to Oregon lawyer Brad Miller and to a private investigator from Washington D.C. named Dana Cutler. They are currently staying at a safe house before going to a meeting with a Supreme Court Justice judge. During the last few weeks, both of these characters were involved with two separate murder cases that have one thing in common. It is something that would cause the biggest political scandal in United States history were it to become public. Brad and Dana have been doing a great deal of running away from powerful people who wish them dead. Very little is revealed in the prologue, but the reader is well and truly hooked.

The author takes his time in developing the story even though its action is fast paced. There are a lot of elements involved in the story and Margolin connects them one at a time until readers discover what it is that Brad and Dana know. Some of the events in EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE are inspired by true-life events, but that is all. Even though the book is a work of fiction, readers will be shocked by some of the book’s revelations and twists. It is the kind of story that makes reading fun and why Margolin’s books are so popular today.

Phillip Margolin’s books are fast-paced, entertaining, and a bit over the top. Granted, he takes some creative liberties when it comes to politics and courtroom proceedings, but this is reading as diversion, not as information. It has a lot of action, a lot of suspense, clever twists, and provides lots of reader satisfaction.
