True crime writer Maddie Jones's mother was shot in the face when Maddie was just five years old. She never knew anything about her mother until recently, when she discovered her mom's diaries.

After reading them Maddie felt closer than she ever had to her mother and decided to write her story. Though, as a true crime writer she usually writes about serial killers, this time she feels compelled to get to the real reason that a jealous wife walked into the bar that was owned by her cheating husband and shot Maddie's mom and then her own husband, then killed herself. So Maddie travels back to Truly, Idaho, to research and write her book.

In Truly, Mick Hennessy owns two bars, including the one where his mom shot her husband and his mistress. Mick had a hard time growing up in the town that never stopped talking about the scandal. He was a wild, tough boy, but after joining the military and flying helicopters in battle he learned a lot about himself and being a good man. He returned to Truly to run his father's bars and help his single sister Meg raise her son.

From hearing about his father, Mick learned not to be the kind of man that his father was. His dad was a well-known womanizer, as had been Mick's grandfather. It seems that the Hennessy men are irresistible to the women of the town, and they had the habit of having as many women as they could, married or not.

Mick also is irresistible to women, but he has rules that he lives by. He never dates married women and he would never dream of settling down either – that is until a strange woman enters town one day.

Without knowing who Maddie really is, Mick sees her and falls in love with the curvy, red-lipped, dark-haired, nice-smelling, well-endowed stranger. Maddie keeps meaning to tell Mick who she really is, but she can't gather her wits when she is around the handsome, black-haired, blue-eyed, well-endowed Mick.

Mick can't stop thinking about the new woman in town, that is until he finally discovers that she is a writer who is going to use the story of his family for her next book. And then he hates her – he thinks.

Yes, this is a romance book with a tiny mystery stuck to it. Most of the book revolves around Maddie and Mick's hot lust for each other and with Maddie spending an inordinate amount of time using scented sugar rubs to anoint her body to smell good.

This book is the third in a series and Maddie's friends, who she meets regularly for lunch, make up the writers who star in the other books. This can be read as a standalone book, but there are many statements about the earlier books thrown around to let you know that you missed reading more about the woman involved.

Make no mistake about it, TANGLED UP IN YOU is a romance story written for lovers of steamy, no holds barred, romance stories. The only mystery here is why this book is touted as a mystery.
