Childhood friends Skip Moore and James Lessor graduated high school a few years ago and haven't done much since. They share an apartment and both have small, insignificant jobs; James is a line cook at Cap'n Crab and Skip tries to sell security systems to people who really have nothing to protect.

Just because they haven't gone far doesn't mean they don't have big plans, though. James spends an inheritance on a moving van and envisions himself and Skip making lots of money hauling people's stuff around.

With the help of Skip's on again/off again girlfriend, Emily, they get their first job. An acquaintance of Emily's has just kicked her husband Rico out of their home and wants Skip and James to take his stuff to a storage unit.

Just as the boys start to unload things off the truck and into the unit they find an envelope that seems to be leaking something. Of course they have to open it and inside they find a severed finger! Instead of just leaving things, Skip and James get involved and decide to deliver the envelope with the finger to Rico. Thus starts their adventure that involves Cuba, a revolution, kidnapping and starting down the road to murder – their own.

STUFF TO DIE FOR by Don Bruns is a very funny book. Even though it sounds dire and depressing, the book is filled with humor and delightful characters.

James and Skip are in their early 20s and are still filled with the naive hope that they will get far in this world. Even though James saw his father's dreams fall apart around him, it has never stopped James from believing that he himself will get ahead in life. The two friends struggle through their dead end jobs just knowing things will soon get better for them.

Well written, easy to read, and sure to get a chuckle out of you, STUFF TO DIE FOR is a marvelous book sure to fill your soul with hope – no matter what your age might be.
