Andrea 'Andy' Kendricks is content with her life. She is doing what she enjoys and her trust fund allows her the means to do this work for non-profit organizations. Her relationship with her mother is still strong even though she refuses to be the debutante her mother would prefer.

While Andy is not certain how she feels about her mother dating, she does appreciate the freedom it gives her in regards to her own boyfriend. Her relationship with Brian is strong even though they have only been together a couple of months. In fact, she is ready to start talking about love and even marriage.

That is until Brian disappears. While Brian is at a bachelor party, he follows a stripper out of the club and vanishes. His friend is left having to find a ride home, his cell phone is turned off and his car disappears. Andy is unwilling to believe that Brian picked up a stripper so is now feeling remorseful and is laying low. Then it is discovered that important documents from an upcoming law case are missing. Andy wonders if this is the explanation behind his disappearance.

Then the police want to question Brian as his car is found with a dead stripper in the trunk. Andy does not believe he is a killer but she does not know where to find him or how to prove his innocence. Andy must enlist the aid of her mother, her mother's boyfriend and Brian's ex-girlfriend Allie for help. Together these four must find Brian and clear his name of all criminal charges.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEB is somewhat disappointing. The plot seems contrived and the characters are inconstant. Andy is normally a take-charge type of a woman but this book portrays her at her worst. While she is ultimately justified in her trust of Brian, her wish-washy responses to the situation and to Brian's possible infidelity got aggravating quickly. In previous books, Andy did not always make good decisions in her life but she was not an indecisive person. This character transformation is disappointing as Andy's independence and determination were the highlights of the series.
