Special Agent Kelly Stone of the FBI has been an agent for a long time and has a good working relationship with her present partner. She is called to her old school in New England when some girls have been found killed in the tunnels that were dug beneath the college.

No one knows for certain why the tunnels are there, and going down there and looking around was mainly looked upon as a school tradition for the students to prove themselves, either for bravery or in a sexual way.

The girls who have already been killed were daughters of wealthy and powerful men, so that side of the case is being looked into. In fact, the latest victim's father has sent his own head of security in to help the police. He is former FBI agent Jake Riley.

I found this book to be rather old-fashioned in that nothing about it seemed to have a new ring about it. Deaths in a ritualistic way in out-of-the-way places are something that has been done before. The addition of an ancient and almost unknown religion behind it is also something that is not new and not at all interesting

I also found that the FBI permitting one of the rich parents to involve their own man, much to the unhappiness of the main character, has also been done to death. That the additional agent is a handsome man who can also be used as a romantic interest by the female lead is also a tired ploy.

All in all, though this is a new book by a new author, there is nothing original here to grab the readers to get them to look forward to the next in the series. Pass on this book if it comes your way.
