Dana Halter is a hearing impaired teacher at The San Roque School for the Deaf. She has a boyfriend Bridger who does digital special effects in films. She's a good citizen and has always worked hard to make her way as a deaf woman in the hearing world.

One day while driving her car she runs a light and is stopped. To her amazement and horror the policeman handcuffs her and throws her into his patrol car. It seems that her name came up as someone who has multiple felony charges and has run out on court dates. Dana learns the hard way that she has been the victim of identity theft. After a horrible weekend in jail, the truth that she is not a criminal becomes clear and she's released.

Not happy with the way the law deems identity theft as a low importance crime, Bridger and Dana want to get the crook found and arrested. By using a contact that gets the thief's phone number, Bridger calls the false Dana to say they are coming for him.

William 'Peck' Wilson is a failed restaurateur with an uncontrollable temper. After doing time for beating up his ex-wife's new boyfriend, he decided that life would be easier as someone else. He lives off other people's identities and credit ratings, wipes their savings out and moves on to the next victim.

After Bridger calls him, Peck is annoyed that one of his victims has found his location, but he's also angry that a victim dare stand up to him. He makes plans to get lost again and to pick up another person's identity, but he also wants to get back at the two people who dared to try to get him arrested.

TALK TALK is not just about identity theft -- it also delves into the thoughts and feelings of its main characters. We get to know how hard it's been for Dana to get the respect she deserves, because deaf people are treated as others or outsiders in the hearing world. The readers also discover how important words and communicating is to her.

Bridger and Dana are very real people who go after a crook but really have no idea how to go about it or what to do once they find him. All they know is that they have a need to right the situation.

Peck is written as a multi-layered sociopath. He knows what he likes, which includes fine food and luxuries and what he wants for himself. He blames everyone else when he isn't happy. Here he even blames Dana for not staying quiet and letting him victimize her.

TALK TALK is well written and flows quickly from the first page to the last. The ending will surprise you.
