Theodosia Browning and the rest of the staff at the Indigo Tea Shop are catering the Poet's Tea. Unfortunately, the event does not run smoothly. First, it begins to rain so the food is rushed inside. Then a body plummets from a balcony on to the food table.

The victim is Roger Crispin, a prominent businessman in the area. His murder comes as a shock to many, but the police already have a suspect in mind. Gracie Venable is working to open a new store called Bow Geste. Her landlord was Crispin and is now Crispin's estate.

In addition, their relationship was closer than just friends. For the police, she is the perfect suspect. The fact that the widow, Simone Crispin is pushing the police to arrest Gracie does not help the investigation. Simone is a very forceful woman, who frequently gets her way based on personality.

The staff at the Indigo Tea Shop feels that the official investigation is not going well and that the police are ignoring important clues. There were feathers found on the balcony that the police seem to be ignoring. Plus the police are not looking for other people with a motive for killing Crispin.

Theo decides that she must start her own investigation and find the truth. If Gracie is guilty so be it, but Theo is not going to stop looking until all of the loose ends are explained. As always, her investigation does not proceed easily or quickly. Theo must find the truth before the killer decides to strike again.

CHAMOMILE MOURNING features an independent woman running her own business. Theo's business is thriving and her staff loves her. She has created the apartment of her dreams and enjoys spending time with her dog and her boyfriend. Theo is also working hard at being an active member of the business community. Overall, her life seems to be well rounded and full. In actuality, Theo is something of a busybody and frequently manages to get herself in dangerous situations. Yet, there is still something personable and appealing about her. While Theo does become involved in things that are none of her business, I always look forward to seeing what she does next.

CHAMOMILE MOURNING is the sixth book in the Indigo Tea Shop series. Laura Childs is also the author of a mystery series featuring a scrapbooking shop.
