Zeke and his best friend, Pow Wow Gao, really named Richard, is in New York City to participate in the in-line skating contest throughout the city. While getting refreshments, Zeke and Pow Wow are witnesses to a purse being snatched from an elderly lady by another skater, who is dressed all in green.

Pow Wow stays with the injured woman whilst Zeke follows the skater to an abandoned warehouse and watches as the purse is examined. When Zeke spies a prescription bottle, he logically concludes that the elderly woman probably needs her medication or she wouldn't have kept it with her. Zeke then successfully sneaks in and takes the pill bottle and returns it to the woman who is now in hospital.

Zeke Armstrong has a knack of being at just the right place when he is needed most. He is a wonderful heroic example for all, attempting to help others and keeping his priorities of caring at the top of his character.

This is a perfect book to be read aloud in the classroom. Each chapter is fairly short and filled with action. Also, almost every chapter ends in a cliff hanger. GREEN STREAK is the sequel to the Agatha Award-winning RED CARD.

As a classroom teacher, my students were thoroughly enthralled with these books. Many of the students chose to add to my review with their own review. Here are the reports from the budding reviewers -- and they have plenty of advice for the authors on the next book in the series!

WHITNEY REIMERS:

Zeke, Pow Wow, and Pow Wow's dad and mom all go to a New York for a skate-off and while trying to win they get involved with Mrs Nattie Winthrop who has a heart problem. First her purse gets stolen with her medicine (without it she could die) inside of it. Then they find Greasy Man and Green Streak. Next, you know it, you see two brothers who are both bad guys. Then one goes to the good side and they fight each other on a gondola and Pow Wow wins the race and you finally get to meet Zeke's parents. You should write another book about a color and sport. I thought that it was a really great book. It's funny, scary, and mysterious all together. Maybe you can write Blue Ball (baseball). I like how Zeke can do all this stuff and you found out Pow Wow can do sign language. That's cool and how Zeke is afraid of a gondola, but not afraid of heights (I laughed at this). You should have in the next book that Pow Wow and Zeke go with Zeke's parents someplace. You should have Zeke's parents in there more so you get to know them. Someone should die and/or get hurt in the next book. You are doing another, right? They should make movies about these books. You should have about 50 more books; OK maybe not that many, but you get my drift.

JAMES:

You will be on the edge of your seat. I mean, you don't know what's coming next! How his friend stuck with him no matter what is phenomenal. I loved this book! I knew Remy was mute or else he would have asked if Mrs. Winthrop was alright.

NICOLE:

Zeke is in the parking lot and he sees a lady get hurt. Can you tell the Greasy Man cares? In New York City the Big Apple, Inline Skate Off is a big deal to Zeke and Pow Wow, but Zeke has something else on his mind. Nattie's hurt and Zeke is trying hard to help. Will skating get in the way? I really like this book because all the details get you hooked. Everyone in my class begged Mrs Davis to read another chapter. This is a great book also because when you read it you wonder what will happen next and you are always thinking about what is going on. Everyone who is looking for a book, this is the one!

DJ:

I think that you need to tell people in the third book who Ezekiel Tobias really is. I was wondering why Zeke wins all the time and the bad guy turned good. I did like how Remy Dupont was mute and how they had the action part on top of the gondola. I think it is smart at the end how they get the thumb wet and save Mrs Winthrop.

BECKY SAFARIK:

How will Zeke save Nattie Winthrop? Zeke and Pow Wow run into the Jittery Man in the Big Apple Inline Skate-Off. Xavier Dupont is trying to steal over a thousand dollars from Mrs Winthrop and plans to flee the Big Apple and hurt Nattie. Will Zeke get there in time?

JAKE TAYLOR:

The famous detective is back. Ezekiel Tibias and Pow Wow are competing in the Big Apple Inline Skate-Off in New York City. They got qualified in the big race. Pow Wow's mom and dad congratulated them and gave them some money to buy some lemonade. They meet a very nice old lady called Mrs Winthrop who offered them lemonade even though they had money. One of the racers in the race came over and tugged away Mrs Winthrop's purse. She fell down. Is Mrs Winthrop all right? Will that racer be arrested? Read this mystery and adventure-packed book! I really liked this book because there were so many surprises. I thought Mrs Winthrop was crazy for her advice. I think the best part was on the gondola. It was really weird when that man dressed up like a woman. If you like a book with surprises, GREEN STREAK is the one!

JESSIE SAFARIK:

Zeke and Pow Wow are back! Now they are in the Big Apple Inline Skate-Off and with new enemies and new friends. Nattie Winthrop meets Zeke and Pow Wow. Now it is a matter between Life and Death for Nattie. Will Zeke and Pow Wow save her in time? I think this book is great for all ages. I like the book GREEN STREAK because it has adventure and excitement. This book is definitely written by a good writer. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone!

ASHLEY MINNICK:

Is she endangered? Nattie Winthrop is rich and missing! Xavier Dupont is her assistant and acting strange. Are her disappearance and his weirdness connected? Will somebody find her before it is too late? This exciting adventure takes place in New York City during the Big Apple Inline Skate-Off. Remy Dupont took Nattie Winthrop's purse that has her medicine that keeps her alive. Ezekiel Tobias has to follow him to his and the Greasy Man's hide out and trick them to get it back. Her assistant, Xavier, seems suspicious to Ezekiel. Is he connected to her disappearance? If so, can Ezekiel and his friend, Pow Wow, get to her in time? I loved this book and its characters. It keeps you from wanting to put the book down. The plot, characters, and the setting seem so lifelike it seems that you're in the book. I loved this book and I bet you would too.

WAYNE:

He was out in the parking lot and saw a lady get hit. He went to go see what happened and it looked like she was knocked out. So he followed a guy to get her purse that had her pills in it. He raced to catch up to him and get her purse. When he caught up he saw some pills behind a trash can and he saw that they were the Green Streak's clothes. Then he went on and looked for him, then he saw this place with a door open so he went in and he saw the guy in a room with another guy. So he goes and peeks, then some boy comes so he runs and hides in another room till there gone. Then he runs out the door and runs home and tells a cop and has them come with him because they don't believe him. When they got there they found nothing.

NADINE SCOTT:

You should read this book because it's a great mystery! It's about this Big Greasy man who steals Mrs Winthrop's purse. So, Pow Wow went chasing the man. Then Pow Wow got in a taxi to chase the man. Then he saw where the Greasy Man went and tried to get Mrs Winthrop's medicine out of her purse. But he couldn't get it. Then at the end he saves Mrs Winthrop somehow. You have to figure it out. I killed the story because it was a fantastic mystery. I liked when Pow Wow went chasing after the Big Greasy Man. I think Pow Wow was really considerate. I loved the book so much!
