Robert Ramirez reads the story of an elite police force in Los Angeles dealing with the lowest level of crime around - drugs. It is not a pretty world and hands are bound to get dirty, but the 'garbage men' have absolutely no problem with that. The officers of the Tactical Resources Against Street Hoodlums (TRASH) bend the rules as far as they would go to catch their man. If they can also make a profit by double-crossing, cheating, or stealing, heck, then why not?

These cops are as crooked as they can be but now the heat is on. An assistant district attorney is breathing down their necks and she is running for public office. She is going to work hard on bringing them down and win the election. Unfortunately, it does not work well in this book.

The book is separated into vignettes with each member of TRASH being showcased showing how bad they can be or how they are dealing with their crooked co-workers. Robert Ramirez does a magnificent job with the characters by talking gangsta, speaking the vernacular, and showing chutzpah with some of the characters.

It is unfortunate that the script he was working on was so lacking. The central plot is not really defined, there are too many players involved, and this is definitely not an audiobook you would like your children to listen to. If language offends you get out your bar of Ivory soap before listening to the book!

As a reader Robert Ramirez is a talent worth noting and listening to his work will be a pleasure. As to the author of this novel, that is another story. The book ends with possibility for a continuation of the story. Maybe the story could improve. We will just have to wait and see.
