Listening to Lisette Lecat, a South African actress, read a book by Alexander McCall Smith is a pleasant way to spend a few hours. Ms Lecat knows the region and is able to change her tone and accent ever so slightly for each new character. McCall Smith's characters might lead simpler lives than we do, but they are certainly more civil to each other than we are. We might learn something by reading or listening to the books in this series.
