It is an Indian summer in New York City in the fall of 2059. Lieutenant Eve Dallas is enjoying the last few days of her own personal vacation before Somerset, her husband’s majordomo returns from his trip and continue to be a thorn on her side. Unfortunately, the city never sleeps and there is crime to be stopped.

A murderer is preying on the women of the city by imitating several serial killers from the past in order to commit his assaults. His first murder imitating the style of Jack The Ripper is excessively gruesome and Eve is committed to bring justice to the victim. The killer left a calling card for Eve to find inviting her to try and catch him. Don’t the criminals in the city know by now that you do not mess with Eve Dallas? She is an investigator who tolerates no nonsense (at least, when her friends let her) with an unquenchable thirst for justice. She will not stop until she catches her man and show her cold-blooded smile. Once she gets you, you’ll regret it. BOY, does she love her job.

In the seventeenth novel of this popular long-running series, Nora Roberts writing as J. D. Robb brings fun in this sexy funny sci-fi, romantic suspense, police procedural. Just like in all of the previous novels something big happens in the life of one of the characters that will bring a smile to reader’s faces. The author does not crimp when in comes to her supporting characters and it is always a welcome scene to see them once again. Among the things you can expect in this book is an appearance by Mavis, Eve’s best friend; her aide, Officer Delia Peabody studying for the detectives exam; and her sexy Irish gazillionaire husband Roarke undertaking his most serious task to date – learning how to barbecue.

IMITATION IN DEATH is a laugh out loud novel that is more entertaining that some of the books out there today. Millions of readers cannot be wrong. Put up you feet and relax with a good book today.
