Amy Steadman has always been an obedient and loving daughter to her father and stepmother. She has helped in the family business and married a man that in turn has become an asset to the company. However Amy's life is about to change. Amy has been called back to North Carolina to help clean out the estate of her recently murdered grandmother. Amy is the woman’s only heir and must decide if she plans to keep or sale the house she used to love to visit so much. Her distant relatives are hoping for a sale. Without her sale, they cannot hope to sell the surrounding property and move on to more comfortable lives. No sale could ruin all their plans. Could this be the reason behind her grandmother’s unsolved murder? Amid all this turmoil and mystery Amy is also trying to come to grips with her past. It was in this very house that Amy's mother committed suicide. No one has ever been able to tell Amy why As Amy rekindles old acquaintances with family she has not seen in years she also starts new friendships with the sheriff that is investigating her mother case. She also forms a deeper bind with her spoiled half sister who has problems all her own. Margaret Maron has been and will always be one of my favorite southern authors. She captures the feel of the land, the characters and the seasons so wonderful. Reading one of her books is like sitting on the front porch, fanning away the heat and drinking a glass of cold ice tea with a trusted old friend. LAST LESSONS OF SUMMR does not disapoint
