Sunset Insurance carries a casualty insurance policy on Hickory Hills Farm, the natural foods farm east of Buffalo, New York. It sends PI Fran Kirk to check out the farm's claim. One of its employees is found impaled on a pitchfork. The coroner suspects foul play with suspicions pointing to the farm family, the co-workers, and a jealous husband. The granddaughter of the farm's founder turns up missing. Fran begins the investigation. She must fight against fire, vandalism and attempts on her life to get to the truth. This is a well-crafted plot , full of atmosphere and exhilarating adventures. The characters are well developed and smoothly introduced. The writing style is realistic with witty dialogue. This is a pleasure to read.
