Imagine itıs 1972 and you were called to fight for your country in the Vietnam conflict. During a mission you were shot down into enemy territory, captured by the Viet Cong, and taken to a prisoner of war camp. Youıre held there, tortured, not seeing any other American pilots during your first few days, constantly interrogated, and given little water and even less food.

You live through bitter cold and loneliness, but you have hopes that your fellow countrymen are looking for you and the other POWıs you soon meet who are also being held in that camp. Your guards move you and your fellow pilots to another camp, outside of Vietnam. Youıve been taken to the Soviet Union, possibly in Siberia, and youıre told that you will remain therefor the rest of your life. Youıre informed that the Americans who you hope are looking for you, donıt know where or who you are because your name is not on the Prisoner Of War list, but that you are considered Missing In Action.

Do you believe it? Is it possible that your country forgot about you? No, it canıt be, they have to be looking for you. But there you are, hidden somewhere in Russia with 100 other men. Youıre there a week, a month, a year, and before you know it decades, have passed.

Then suddenly, you and your fellow pilots are taken to an airport hangar. You turn around for a second and spy a man who looks like the pictures you saw of Sloan Woodbury, the Secretary of State of your country and heıs talking to your captors! Will you be released then? No. You are drugged and after you regain consciousness, you and the others find you had been transferred to yet another camp. But could this be? Why are you still in an armed camp? Because you saw the Secretary Of State, your fellow countrymen must know where you are, donıt they? Then why are you still in a camp, ready to celebrate your 30th year of captivity? Has your country really betrayed you?

These are the questions that went through the mind of Roy Harper, a pilot for the U.S. Air force who was shot down over Vietnam in 1972. Now, in a fantastic turn of events thirty years later, Roy finds himself dirty and unshaved, standing in front of his little brother, Jasonıs, home. His brother is now a grown man and Roy hasnıt seen Jason since he was 12 years old. Roy knows that knocking on his door will bring danger, and most likely death, to Jason and his family. But Roy needs Jasonıs help because Roy, all alone, cannot do what has to be done.

BETRAYED, written by Brendan Dubois, tells a fascinating tale of treachery committed upon the MIAıs of the Vietnam conflict. The concept and the ideas that Mr. Dubois has written about sound very real and could possibly be true. It all makes a ghastly sense.

This is a story of a man, really a group of men, who want to know what happened to them. Why were they forgotten for thirty years? Itıs also a tale of revenge and anger.

Roy Harper is a strong character who will do what he has to do in order to free his fellow pilots. Jason Harper, Royıs younger brother, owns a newspaper in a small town in Maine. Jason is in awe of his older brother when they meet again and will do anything he can to help Roy and get the story of the MIAs to the public even if it means losing his wife Patty and small son Paul.

Patty doesnıt trust Roy and wants to go to the police. She doesnıt understand why Roy, instead of going to the Air force with his story, ends up in Maine.

After Jason and his family are nearly murdered, Roy and his brother leave while Patty takes her son to look for help. But she only finds more men who are trying to kill her.

BETRAYED will keep you reading well into the night. Itıs filled with adventure and electrifying suspense. When Roy tells you of his life during his thirty years in the POW camp this book is especially mesmerizing.

This is a story of strength and courage. And most significantly, it will start you thinking about the fate of our Vietnam MIAs. How true is this story? Is it possible that something like this actually happened?

Even if you werenıt around during Vietnam this book will capture your attention, and if you do remember 1972 then you must read this novel. BETRAYED is a well written book and one not to missed!
