A group of mercenaries code-named The Three Blind Mice have been targeting military officials for an unknown employer. Their method of operations is to frame their victims to a brutal capital crime and let the American justice system execute them after all appeals are denied. Each crime is perfectly planned. They leave no trace, except the ones that they planted, and they are oblivious as to why these men need to be terminated. Sgt. Ellis Cooper has convicted of brutally murdering three women, his only chance for survival is his friend, John Sampson, a police detective. Together with Alex Cross, they have solved several infamous crimes including the Jack and Jill killers and the serial kidnapper known as Casanova. Now, the stakes have gotten higher and now they are working against the clock. If they do not find The Three Blind Mice, another innocent man may be executed.

Readers familiar with the Alex Cross series should know what to expect. The chapters are no longer than three pages, going scene by scene, and the trademark white space is shown with each page of this best seller. The psychologist's and Sampson's personal lives are featured as well as Alex's family. ROSES ARE RED and VIOLETS ARE BLUE villain, The Mastermind makes a cameo appearance in this book as well as a new villain, leading to a new future possibility. There are several surprises interspersed in the book making FOUR BLIND MICE one of the better series novels after JACK AND JILL. As usual, there is a major surprise at the end of the book, but who really cares. Readers will continue to crave the next Patterson novel. Nothing is going to stop them.
