Before dealing with a crazed killer in the Edgar Award Winning novel Bones, reporter Irene Kelly was buys investigating a different set of bones. Goodnight Irene is the first book in the series featuring Las Piernas newspaper reporter Irene Kelly and her now-husband, Detective Frank Harriman. It is an impressive debut that has led to a loyal following in the reading mystery circle.

In this first book, a package bomb sent to his home has murdered Irene’s mentor. For over the last thirty years, O’ Connor has been reporting about a body of a young woman found in the desert with her hands chopped off and her face bashed in. It was his persistence in the story that has been giving credence to the story for years and he was now reaching a conclusion. Due to advancements in modern technology, he was getting close in identifying the girl causing panic for the killer. Irene wants to give closure to the case and will continue where her friend left off trying to bring closure to an unknown grieving family. She will then uncover a link with a very influential Las Piernas family and be in a showdown with a killer who has fought for thirty years to hide the murder with no qualms in doing it again. It is a good thriller with a satisfying conclusion.
