Tim Cockey's latest in the Hitch series is MURDER IN THE HEARSE DEGREE. I loved the first two books in the series, but was not as wild about the third. Although I did think that Cockey deserved his Lefty Award given for the best in humorous mysteries. MURDER IN THE HEARSE DEGREE, however, has Cockey and Hitch at the top of their form.

The death of a nanny of a former lover leads Hitch to investigate. When it is discovered that the nanny is pregnant a number of suspects arise including the husband of his ex-flame who is not known for faithfulness to his marriage vows. There is also former Kentucky governor who left office after a felony charge and the conservative "religious" group founded of which he is the spokesperson. There is also the ex-governor's very angry and dysfunctional daughter.

Full of the characters Cockey's readers have come to love along with a whole new group, Hitch attempts to solve a murder before the killer can add the curious mortician to his list of victims.

Funny, interesting and fast moving, MURDER IN THE HEARSE DEGREE is a great book for Cockey fans and one that should send readers to read the rest of the series because to know Hitch is to love him. --
