Sarah Lovett introduces her readers to Dr. Sylvia Strange, a forensic psychologist from New Mexico making an impact in this powerful series debut. For people unfamiliar with this character, you are in for a surprise. The series heroine is an ever-evolving character who is always learning from her experiences. She does not always have the answers to other peopleís problems and she goes through the same insecurities others may have. Dr. Strange stands well on her own and after reading her first appearance you will see why.

In this first novel, Dr. Strange deals with an inmate who has a dangerous obsession with her. It is her testimony that prevents Lucas Watsonís parole request to be granted. He is not a happy camper and wants to get out of prison. When a riot breaks out in the penal facility, Lucas uses it to his advantage and escapes. His target is Dr. Strange. Now, Sylvia is worried about her life and things are not going to get any easier. Lucasís father is an influential politician who can make things difficult for the Doctor. He wants her to lay off on his son, but Dr. Strange thinks that there is more to the story. She will not be deterred and will do everything under her power to prevent Lucas from hurting anyone else. He is under suspicion for several mutilation murders in the prison and the evidence points towards Lucas. In the course of her research, Dr. Strange will learn all about Lucasís past and his family, a clear inspiration from a Eugene OíNeill play.

Dangerous Attachments is an impressive debut novel where the author introduces a strong-willed woman with a great supporting group of characters. They will all be making their debuts here and appear in other subsequent books in the series. Hopefully, people will start to discover Sarah Lovettís novels now that all her previous novels are out in paperback. If you have not tried her books before now is the perfect opportunity. This author is underrated and deserving of higher recognition. This work is highly entertaining as well as the three following novels. Give her books a shot; you will not be disappointed.
