Socialite Lenore Richling hires investigators Kate and Terry McAfee to track down her runaway husband. He has fled with lots of her money, leaving her humiliated and wanting revenge. However, as soon as the investigators track him down, he is murdered, swiftly followed by Lenore herself. Can they track down the culprit?

THE BUTCHER OF BEVERLY HILLS is described as wacky, and that is certainly the right word for it. The humour is laid on with a trowel, and at times, the novel is so funny that the reader will be laughing out loud, as Colt mixes farce with what is also a serious investigation into murder and drug dealing.

Colt's characters are interesting and she works hard on developing them, giving them their own characteristics and mannerisms. At the end of the day, there is nothing that will attract the serious mystery or thriller reader, but should you be looking for a simple novel where you can switch off your brain and let the story carry you through a twisting world of humorous excitement, then you really ought to give THE BUTCHER OF BEVERLY HILLS a try.
