New York, 2059. Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband, Roarke, are at a reception in the Palace Hotel, one of Roarke's many possessions, when the body of a maid, beaten, raped, and strangled with a 2 foot length of silver wire is discovered. Shortly thereafter, a writer friend of Roarke's is found ̉beaten, raped and strangled. Dallas and her team discover the identity of the killer, but the FBI intervenes and Yost escapes.

Eve figures out that the killer is really after Roarke and she tries to set up protection for him, but finds that more difficult than fingering the killer. She also has to try and keep the feebies from messing up her operation again.

The series makes great airplane reading. Each book takes place only weeks after the previous one, so the relationships: Eve and Roarke, McNab and Peabody, Mavis and Leonardo, can be seen to develop and grow. If you enjoy a bit of romantic suspense with a touch of tongue in cheek science fiction thrown in, try this series. But do start at the beginning.
