Psychiatrist Dr. Edwards was found dead in his office. Hearing the call on her scanner, Darby responded as a rookie patrol officer. The consensus was that this was a suicide but it did not feel right to Darby. Dr. Edwards was more than he appeared to be and Darby had more than a vested interest in the solutions of this mystery. The object was to find out who killed him and why.

This story takes many paths and just when you think you know where you are going, there is additional suspense that leads you to another conclusion. The clues included a forged suicide note and a patient file that was anonymously sent to Darby. A peek into the earlier lives of some of the players will add to your enjoyment of this book. The connection between the characters will give you just enough red herrings, but look out, because it will be difficult to decipher what is valid.

One of my favorite scenes was the doctor's funeral. The scene in the church was so accurately and poignantly written that this reader felt I was sitting in the pew and attending the funeral mass.

A myriad of events will keep you turning pages and then when you finish, you will definitely realize just how well written this story is. Caution: Do NOT read the end of the book first.
