Net Stalker features Detective Sergeant Sam Ashburn of the fictitious Springfield Police Department. Billed as a "high tech mystery" there is a lot of interesting Internet lore and just enough computer detail to appeal to most surfers of the net.

The police are investigating a serial killer who apparently is using the Internet to stalk his victims. As the police attempt to gather evidence again the stalker, it is evident to them that he is an admirer of the infamous Ted Bundy and his crime spree. Sam and his partner, Mike Murphy, are working around the clock to solve the crimes; clues are few and tempers are frayed.

At 157 pages, the book is quite short and hardly seems worth the listed $19.95 price for a trade paperback. A first novel, I thought the writing a little stilted; however he tells a good story albeit a short one. About half way through the book I did guess whodunit, I thought it was fairly obvious.

The author is a technical writer and web developer, who plans to make the Sam Ashburn books into a series. He will need to flesh out the characters more and try to develop a style that reads less like a technical manual. There is hope - Sam seems like an interesting guy.
