Murder Will Travel is the first in the Booked for Travel mystery series by Emily Toll, pseudonymous for Taffy Cannon. Booked for Travel is the travel agency owned by fifty something Lynne Montgomery. She bought the agency after her husband's death to get back to work she loved.

As the book opens, Lynne is leading a group in a tour of the Sonoma County, California wine country. It is an extensive group, varied in age, gender, and geographical origin. The tour will go to numerous vineyards and restaurants with open time for individualized site seeing. The group is staying at Villa Belladuce, a lovely former inn and vineyard. It is now owned by Jeff and Angela Rutledge as a private residence, but they allow Lynne's group to stay as she had agreed with the former owners. One of those former owners, Lance Belladuce, generally so charming, shows up one evening and has an argument with the Rutledges. The next morning Lynne finds Lance's body near the vineyards.

Taffy Cannon has published other books, and her experience shows in the lovely descriptions of the wine country and the wine business, and in how well she handles her numerous and diverse characters. Yet after a leisurely build-up, the climax seems hurried, and does not seem to fit the characters as previously established. Nevertheless the book is a promising beginning to a new series.
