It's Christmas in New York and Lt. Eve Dallas is tracking a serial killer, who rapes, sodomizes, and strangles his victims, then washes them, makes them up, and leaves a piece of jewelry prominently displayed. Eve is afraid there will be 12 victims, and she and her aide search through the lives of the victims to try and find a common reference point. The search leads to a dating service. Roberts has developed a wonderful cast of characters, including Dallas, her husband, her assistant, the other cops, and her friends Nora Roberts, writing under the pseudonym of J. D. Robb turns out two "...in Death" books a year. It's perfect light airplane reading. It has it all...sex, violence, fun characters, and a somewhat gloomy view of the future. This is the 7th in the "....In Death" series
