Madeline Olivia Beanžs catering company, Mad Bean Caterers, has just received some big, big news. Her company has been asked to cater a breakfast for the Pope during his visit to Los Angeles. This is just what her business needs! Everything now seems to be going great for Madeline and her business associates, Wes and Holly. What could possibly go wrong?

Right before the Popežs visit, Madelinežs ex fiancČ, Xavier Jones appears out of nowhere. Years ago, he left Madeline to join the Jesuits Brothers and now has returned to Los Angeles to help with the Popežs visit.

Xavier has in his possession, an old recipe book that he thought Madeline might like to look at. Hidden within the pages, Madeline finds a confession of murder from another Jesuit Brother, Brother Ugo, dated around the Second World War.

Taking a break from their preparations, Madelinežs boyfriend Arlo manages to get Madeline, Holly, Xavier, and Frank de Valle, a local Jesuit brother, in to see the filming of his hit situation comedy. After the taping, Brother Frank is found dead in the trailer of the showžs lead, ex country/western singer, now situation comedy star, Erica „Dottieū Moss. Brother Frank was hit over the head as Dottie was taking a shower. To make matters even worse, no one seems to care who murdered him.

Madeline, who has never been able to turn down investigating a good murder mystery decides that not only will she find out who murdered the young Jesuit but will also find out all about Brother Ugožs confession letter that was found in the recipe book. No easy feat to accomplish when youžre trying to put together an extravaganza breakfast for His Holiness at the same time.

With Xavieržs help, Madeline finds a Monsignor Picca, who has a recollection of Brother Ugo from his younger days with the Church in Rome. There are only two little problems. As Madeline leaves Monsignor Piccažs church, she is threatened by three men and warned not to cater the Popežs breakfast. The second problem occurs later when Monsignor Picca is found dead after emailing Madeline telling her to meet him at his sisteržs house so he can give her some information about Brother Ugo.

Was Monsignor Picca killed or did he die of natural causes? Who killed Brother Frank? Detective Honnet thinks it was the gang-bangers that Brother Frank was trying to help, but if so, why were they at a taping of a situation comedy and why was Brother Frank killed in Dottie Mossž trailer while she was in the shower? Was there some hanky-panky going on there?

And, with all these murders and questions going in, did the Pope ever get to eat His breakfast?

IMMACULATE RECEPTION is a fun book. Madeline and her friends, including Wes, Holly, Arlo, and Detective Honnet, are great characters.

IMMACULATE RECEPTION is the second in the Madeline Bean Catering series. Itžs set in glamorous Los Angeles and the reader is taken behind the scenes to enjoy television tapings, movie openings and all the beautiful, well to do areas in Southern California.

This is a rollicking good book for mystery and food lovers.
