Agatha Raisin considers herself a modern day Miss Marple. Well, she may be an amateur sleuth but she's no sweet old lady. Agatha Raisin has attitude galore. In her latest adventure, Agatha snooping, egged on by her friend Sir Charles Fraith, puts her straight into the hot seat -- literally, and on more than one occassion.

When Agatha's attempt to rid herself of a few stray grays turns her hair purple, she scurries off to have the job done right, at the recommendation of a friend, in the able hands of Mr. John. She is more than thrilled with his styling talents (not to mention his flirting ability) until she begins to hear rumors which lead her to believe he may be blackmailing the women who sit in his chair. Women, after all, will have a tendency to spill their secrets to their hairdressers -- especially if he's already stolen their hearts. As typical for this woman who prides herself on her sleuthing ability, Agatha decides she must dig deeper to uncover his blackmailing scheme, even if it means putting herself in danger.

Agatha Raisin and the Wizard of Evesham is Agatha Raisin's eigth adventure. It is a English cozy with all of the quaintness of Agatha Christie but with modern twists to keep you even more entertained. Agatha's bad attitude, covering a slightly insecure interior, is the perfect combination for the modern day Miss Marple that she wishes to be. M. C. Beaton weaves a tale that will delight Christie fans as well as lure in a whole new crowd to the cozy subgenre.
