Nancy Bartholomew writes a great traditional amateur sleuth series, which just happens to feature Sierra Lavotini, an exotic dancer -- not a stripper, mind you, but an exotic dancer. OK, so what's so "traditional" about a stripper? Is Agatha Christie rolling over in her grave? Maybe, but truthfully, Film Strip is your basic traditional mystery.... with a few less-than-traditional twists.

Sierra Lavotini, the headlining dancer at the Tiffany, has no one but herself to blame if the visiting porn stars try to muscle their way into her act -- after all, the whole thing was her idea. What she didn't count on was having their "guests" murdered -- or on getting shot herself.

As Sierra is drawn in to the investigation, Bartholomew treats us to outings with Sierra's quirky neighbors and visiting family, a run in with the mob which brings about unexpected results... oh, and some steamy moments with Panama City Homicide Detective John Nailor.

Despite the somewhat steamy nature of the main character's occupation, Film Strip is a entertaining, humorous amateur sleuth mystery that is sure to be enjoyed by any cozy fan. If you are anything like me, you'll be so hooked you'll be forced to add future adventures of Sierra Lavotini to your "must read" list.
