And the Dying is Easy is a wonderful collection of twenty short mystery stories. Ever wonder what your favorite amateur sleuth does on vacation? Now you can find out. Do you think detectives ever get a break from stumbling over dead bodies? Guess again.

The author's included in this collection are: Jeff Abbott, Lydia Adamson, Ann Campbell, JoAnna Carl, Edie Claire, Max Allen Collins, Selma Eichler, Hazel Holt, Peter King, John Lantigua, Sam McCarver, Tamar Myers, Dana Stabenow, Andy Straka, Denise Swanson, Peter Tremayne, Judith Van Gieson, K.J.A. Wishnia, Matt Witten, and Wayne Worcester.

This anthology of short stories is a great way to get a taste of an author you've never read, knowing that there are books with the same characters out there waiting for you if you want more. It's also fun to get a chance to see characters that are already old friends in a different light, a side that might not ever be revealed in the series. And better still, some author's use their short story as a way to introduce a new character or book series. Among my favorites were Lydia Adamson's "A Case of Feline Psychopathology: An Alice Nestleton Mystery Story," Matt Witten's "Serve and Volley: A Jacob Burns Mystery Story," and Dana Stabenow's "Missing, Presumed...: An Alaskan Mystery Story."

And the Dying is Easy is a great read for summer, or anytime when you only have a few minutes for a short read and want to be sure you're reading something good.
